NIJKERK – Storage capacity and optimized energy usage
A warm relationship that extends far below freezing: HEUTBOUW is constructing the new building for Cold Storage Lagemaat and will also carry out the transformation of the existing buildings. Cold Storage Lagemaat, located in Nijkerk, has specialized in freezing, cooling, and tempering for over 60 years, as well as storage, distribution, and customs facilitation. To remain effective and future-proof, the cold storage facilities must provide ample storage capacity and optimize energy usage.

Environmentally conscious and efficient construction
The new cold storage facility is being built on an infill location directly connected to the existing sites. This avoids unnecessary transports to external cold storage facilities. All products can be stored at one business location in multiple cold storage houses, centrally located in the Netherlands along the A28 and A1 traffic axis. This will have a significant positive impact on the economy and also in terms of sustainability. The new construction is entirely realized using prefab sandwich panels. In addition to efficient construction and waste reduction through this clean construction method, waste is separated into multiple streams. Sustainability is a focus during the construction of the company building, aiming for minimal energy and water consumption. Materials with a demonstrably responsible origin are locally sourced, and related transport movements are monitored. Environmental considerations are taken into account, minimizing disturbances. Clear communication about the timing of different tasks is maintained.
