United Kingdom /4 July 2024Constellation Cold Logistics announces the start of construction of its 49,000-pallet expansion in GrimsbyConstellation Cold Logistics (“Constellation”) announces the start of construction of its expansion project in Grimsby. Groundwork has begun at the Estate Road 2 site, where 49,000 europallet spaces will be added to the facility’s current 17,000 europallet capacity upon completion in 2025.The project has been driven by strong customer demand in the region from both new and existing customers who are already committing to use the expansion’s pallet positions.Construction of the state-of-the-art facility has been supported by a £5m grant from the UK Seafood Infrastructure Scheme. The site will feature a solar array and will be 30% more energy efficient than existing cold stores, as part of Constellation’s continued efforts to reach net zero by 2050.Anthony Howard, Constellation’s UK MD, said “We’re excited to see the start of this project, given its importance for Constellation UK. The expansion will help us to meet the continued demand from our customers for more storage space. The site’s construction has been carefully planned, and will include new technology to enhance operational efficiency for the benefit of our customers.”Constellation is Europe’s leading independent cold storage and logistics provider with approximately 700,000 pallet positions of temperature-controlled capacity and a presence across seven European countries.Constellation recently announced its acquisition by EQT , a purpose-driven global investment organization registered in Stockholm, Sweden.
